Retinitis pigmentosa is the premature degeneration of the pigmentary layer of the retina, with degeneration of the affected retinal elements and pigment migration of a typical pattern.

Signs and Symptoms: Retinitis pigmentosa is a hereditary disease which results in reduction or loss of night vision and peripheral vision.
