The Importance of Early Eye Disease Diagnosis

For those of us blessed with healthy eyes, it's common to forget about the importance of taking preventative steps such as an optical examination. However, early diagnosis of any eye or vision problems is crucial to keeping your eyes healthy. This can easily be done with a simple eye test.

A significant number of optical ailments don't have any apparent symptoms. Therefore, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Call to schedule a comprehensive optical examination at our office in Manasquan, with our experienced optometry staff. Our Manasquan practice employs the latest equipment ensuring a complete eye exam.

Unfortunately, more than three million Americans suffer from glaucoma, the main cause of vision loss but only 50% of them know it. Glaucoma is sometimes nicknamed ''the sneak thief of sight'' because it can impair vision absent of symptoms. More than half of adult Americans don't use corrective lenses and don't get comprehensive eye exams, therefore putting their eyes at substantial danger.

The unfortunate truth is that most individuals don't know that sight-stealing conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration are often a-symptomatic and without a comprehensive eye exam are often found only after it's too late.

Early eye disease screening should be a priority. Be sure to set up regular eye exams with your local eye doctor in order to maintain healthy eyes for years to come.
